The Rand Symphony Orchestra invites audiences to experience an afternoon of beautiful orchestral music as they present a programme filled with well-loved light classical favourites at the Etienne Rousseau Theatre. This special concert promises an enjoyable journey through some of the most celebrated works in the classical repertoire, featuring Mendelssohn’s dramatic Hebrides Overture , the elegant Ballet Music from Gounod’s Faust , Chabrier’s lively and colourful España , and the charming Toy Symphony by Haydn .
Adding a touch of nostalgia and familiarity, the programme will also include a medley of much-loved songs from the iconic musical My Fair Lady . The orchestra will be joined by talented young soloist Boitumelo Phaho , who will perform the impressive Horn Concerto by Richard Strauss .
Boitumelo Phaho is a second-year BMus student at the University of Pretoria, specialising in piano and French Horn. She began her piano studies at the age of seven and has since developed into an accomplished young musician, earning recognition at numerous prestigious competitions including the Phillip H.
