CHARL DU PLESSIS TRIO RETURNS WITH NEW MUSIC AND FAVOURITE CLASSICS The Charl du Plessis Trio returns from their recent performances in Switzerland with a fresh programme featuring new music and surprising arrangements of works by Bonnie Raitt, Chopin, Beethoven, Debussy and one of J.S.
Bach’s sons. Familiar favourites such as Debussy’s “Clair de Lune”, Chopin’s “Minute Waltz”, C.P.E. Bach’s “Solfeggietto” and Rodrigo’s “Concierto de Aranjuez” are presented alongside popular hits including Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me If You Don’t” and “Dance Monkey”.
With their distinctive combination of classical music, jazz and popular music, the trio creates a programme in which familiar melodies are transformed and brought to life in fresh and unexpected ways. The Charl du Plessis Trio celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The ensemble comprises Steinway Artist and pianist Charl du Plessis, double bassist Werner Spies and drummer Peter Auret.
Since its formation in 2006, the trio has established a unique place in the South African music scene through its energetic and virtuosic approach to the boundaries between classical music, jazz and popular music. CHARL DU PLESSIS TRIO KE
